can you use the controller as the dvd remote as you can with a playstation 2? or is it like the old xbox and you have to buy a dvd remote? Can the controller of the xbox 360 act as the dvd remote?
You can use the normal controllers.
The problem with the old Xbox was licensing fees.
Every DVD player has to pay licenses to the DVD consortium.
In order to keep the Xbox 1 as cheap as possible, the hardware could play DVDs right away, but the license to play DVDs would have been to expensive for gamers who just want to play games.
So the DVD remote was exceedingly expensive, since the license fee was attached to the remote. And only with the remote attaced as a sign that you paid the licensing fee, the old Xbox 1 playes DVD movies.
The new 360 however directly comes with DVD abilities, as MPEG2 playback is also needed for Media Center compatibility. So there was no way around the licensing. Can the controller of the xbox 360 act as the dvd remote?
Yes you can use the xbox controller, some special editions of the 360 comes with a white remote, similar to any dvd remote, but its not necessary for video playback. For example i think the R click button on the back can be used to pause, and the b button can be used to decide if you want to restart the video continue playback or stop it altogether.
indeed you can
ure xbox shud of came with a remote thing thats espicially for the xbox, thats what i use to watch dvd, it looks like any other remote but its white, and it has xbox buttons on it
