Xbox 360 controller start button failure?

there was water spilled on the controller, however all the other buttons work fine it is only the start that doesn't work. I have gotten around the problem by hitting the center button which automatically uses the start button, but still do not know why start button alone work work?Xbox 360 controller start button failure?
shorted teh circuit board for that spot only... if you really wanted to.. take apart.. take off wire.. then re-sauder. but i would only do it if you know what exactly you are doing! or take it in and explain your case to a store or call 1-800-4MY-XBOX. they help alot

I had this problem with all of my 360's I have had the past year (glad I had the protection plan). The best way I have found to remedy this problem is buy looking online for the PS3 controller adaptor cable for X-BOX 360 consoles. It temporarily goes thru a line attached to where the charging cable attaches to the PS3 controller untill it learns the system- thus fooling it to accept it. Pretty neat. It fools the X-BOX into thinking the PS3 controller is actually a run of the mill 360 unit, thus resulting in a more controlled, fine tuned gaming expierience. I bought mine off ebay. Let me tell you- X-BOX games have never played better so you have no idea what you have been missing out on untill you purchase that adaptor. I already sold my 360 for the more powerful PS3, or I would have given you my adaptor. Great question, thanks!
