Can I use a gamecube controller for my wii system instead of a wii controller?

if you are playing Gamecube games you have to, but wii games will require a the wiimote and possibly the nunchuck

You can use GCN controllers for:





1. Most Virtual Console Downloads from Wii shop (optional);


2. Gamecube games played on Wii (required); or


3. Wii games that specifically say on the back of the box (optional)





For option 1, I recommend GC rather than Wii Classic.





For option 2, its required





For option 3, it can be done, but I recommend using the designated Wii controllers/accessories accompanied with the game.

Some games can. Check on the back of the box and up at the top right you should see a Gamecube controller silhouette if it is compatible. Two games that I know of that are compatible via GC controllers are Mario Kart Wii and Super smash Bros. Brawl.





Many virtual console games are functional with the GC controller (e.g Donkey Kong country and The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time.

Yes you can but only on certain Games if you want to play GC Gamecube Games they are Backward compatible Also certain Wii Games have the Gc Controller Icon on the back of the case %26amp; if it has it you can use it for that game
