I'm enlisted in the Army and currently deployed (Operation Iraqi Freedom) but my time for re-enlistment is now open and I would like to go back home and be a civilian once again and become an Air Traffic Controller. Now I'm aware that to become and Air Traffic Controller you need a Bachelor degre and some experience or a combination of both and what I wanted to know is if you enlist for the Army Reserves and become a MOS 15Q Air Traffic Controller what else do you need to be consider in this field and be able to work for the FAA?
Are my chances any better to get in this field?
Any Prior Service with MOS 15Q out there that could help me out?Can you be an AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER, and work for the FAA straight out of the Army if your MOS 15Q?
Qualifications used to be 3 years work experience and no bachelors degree were necessary.
As a military controoler, you should have the ability to direct-hire into the FAA without much hassle.
Do your homework. The FAA is embarking on a hiring binge. They want to hire roughly 600-650 new people each year. If you have prior work experience, you can be sure you will be noticed.
Look into the NATCA web page for employment opportunities. They can be more help than I.
