How can i use my ps3 controller to play games on my pc?

i tried connecting my ps3 controller to my pc. i am using windows vista home basic. i checked in the game controllers in control panel, there it was showing that a playstation 3 controller is connected to my pc, but still i could not use it to play games or calibrate or just to test.

You cannot use it. I'm surpirsed it even showed up as a PS3 controller. There are versions of the Xbox 360 controller that work on PCs but not PS3. You need drivers to make the controllers work and as far as I know, Sony hasn't come up with any PC drivers for their controllers.
You can, in fact, use the Sixaxis or Dualshock3. I have done it before. You need a set of drivers to make it work. I think this link should take care of it...

no. i dont think u can. even though there is a USB cable i dont think so
